The West & Farmers
As the Civil War comes to an end, America focuses its efforts on peacefully reconstructing itself. With a large number of Americans destitute from the war, Americans and immigrants begin to expand westward in search of promise and prosperity.

Industry, Immigration, and Guilded Age
New creations and inventions give rise to cities, industries, and entrepreneurs. As businesses boom, the population begins to increase as more and more immigrants migrate to America in search of opportunity. The increase in labor force and harsh working conditions leads to the rise of the first labor unions and their fights towards higher pay and better working conditions.
Imperialism
The late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries are characterized by the exchanging of territories throughout the world. As America becomes an economic powerhouse, it begins to flex its muscles and influence in foreign affairs.

World War I
The Great War. Also known as "the war to end all wars". Why was it called this? This war included nearly all of the major countries in the world. Considered to be one of the most horrible, brutal wars of all time, WWI war brought the introduction of new military technologies such as poisonous gases, U-Boats, bombs, tanks, machine guns, and trench warfare.

The wartime economic boom of the U.S. during WWI led to increased prosperity for America in the years following the war. The period of the 1920's proved to be a time of innovation and might, as America became the wealthiest country in the world. So how did it all fall apart?
